Rewind: Girl Power!

Good day everyone, and welcome to yet again another edition of Rewind, where we talk about music and everything related to it!

As you may have noticed, I love OPM so much. Most of my musical influences comes from OPM. And just a few days ago, I came up with a hypothetical album and today, we make another one. Last time we dealt with numbers in song titles, this time, we go with the sweet sweet voice of our lovely OPM ladies.

Don't get the wrong idea though, these ladies can rock some serious tunes! So just like before, let's set some ground rules:

1.) There should only be a minimum of eight (8) songs and a maximum of 16 songs in this album.
2.) To have a diverse album, each artist can only have a maximum of three (3) songs in this album.
3.) Only one version of each song could be included in the album.
4.) The lead singer should be a female. If she has a male co-lead singer, or the song featured a male artist, that is fine.

So now that we have got that out of the way, let's start the fun!

As usual, it all begins after the jump.

1.) 'Wag na 'Wag Mong Sasabihin

Original Artist: Kitchie Nadal
Original Album: Kitchie Nadal
Year Released: 2004

Who doesn't know this song? Kitchie was the poster girl for rock girls in the mid 2000s and my regret was that I haven't watched her live in a UP Fair concert. This is the only Kitchie Nadal song in here despite her having a lot of hits (Bulong and Same Ground to name a few). Just goes to show how great our female musicians are.

LSS Line: May gusto ka bang sabihin?

2.) Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito

Original Artist: Moonstar88
Original Album: Press to Play
Year Released: 2002

The song that for me, has became bigger than the artist. Most would know of the song, but they would fail to remember that it is a Moonstar88 original way back in 2002. While that might sound like a negative against Moonstar, it is not. The song is just that good.

LSS Line: Kaya't sa Maykapal tuwina'y dalangin ko, sanay...

3.) Migraine

Original Artist: Moonstar88
Original Album: Todo Combo
Year Released: 2007

Probably among the most famous and recognizable songs in this hypothetical album, Moonstar's Migraine is a stuff for hugot-legends. I mean, seriously, just listen to the song; a song about misplaced hope and unanswered expectations. Hu-Got!

LSS Line: Oo nga pala, hindi nga pala tayo..

4.) Torete

Original Artist: Moonstar88
Original Album: Popcorn
Year Released: 2000

If there is one song that would be best associated with Moonstar88, it would be this song. Torete is one of those songs that you mostly here people playing in the guitar. It has become an anthem among OPM fans.

Also, a cop-out, I'd be listing songs from the same artist in order.

LSS Line: Sandali na lang, maari bang pagbigyan..

5.) Tabi

Original Artist: Paraluman (feat. Kean Cipriano)
Original Album: Lab!
Year Released: 2008

A song that is among the most played songs in my phone back in 2014, it should be no surprise that this song makes this list as well. It's a nice sweet song about always being there. If you haven't heard of this song yet, listen to it now!

LSS Line: Sa iyong tabi, ako ay 'yong, mahahawakan...

6.) Mata

Original Artist: Mojofly
Original Album: MOJOFLY Now
Year Released: 2005

Mojofly! Most of you probably knew this band would the list. This song is probably one of their most famous songs, if not the most famous.

LSS Line: Nakita ko ng lahat ito, pinahihiwatig ng mata mo.

7.) Tumatakbo

Original Artist: Mojofly
Original Album: MOJOFLY Now
Year Released: 2005

My personal favorite among all the Mojofly songs, Tumatakbo, also from MOJOFLY Now, is a song about a person being wary about the current state of their life as well as their future.

Bonus fact: Before Lougee, do you know who is the first vocalist of Mojofly?

Kitchie Nadal.

Yep.

LSS Line: May birthday cake ka nga, ngunit wala namang kandila..

8.) Hiling

Original Artist: Paramita
Original Album: Tala
Year Released: 2005

Paramita is most likely the least known band in this album, but that doesn't make them any less good. We were first introduced to Paramita in 2005 with the song Hiling, and my first reaction?

She's both the vocalist AND the drummer?

That's cool.

WAY cool.

LSS Line: Kung ito ang iyong hiling...

9.) Takipsilim

Original Artist: Paramita
Original Album: Tala
Year Released: 2005

If Paramita is the least known artist, then their song Takipsilim most probably is the least known song in this list. And not unlike what I've said an entry earlier, not being known does not equate to not being good. I'd just leave you with some of the lyrics of this song to give you a glimpse of it's awesomeness.

LSS LineS:

10.) Sundo

Original Artist: Imago
Original Album: Blush
Year Released: 2006

We finally get to see an Imago song! I love Imago, and Aya is such a beauty. I remember watching them during the Freshie Concert back in 2007, and my reaction was, "Wow".

LSS Line: Asahan mo, mula ngayon, pag-ibig ko'y sayo..

11.) Akap

Original Artist: Imago
Original Album: Take 2
Year Released: 2003

Another Imago song, this time from their 2nd album, aptly named Take 2, released back in 2003. This probably is my favorite Imago song.

LSS Line: Sabihin sakin, lahat ng lihim mo.. Iingatan ko...

12.) Taning

Original Artist: Imago
Original Album: Take 2
Year Released: 2003

One more Imago song? One more Imago song! This is the first song from Imago that I heard and I became an instant fan because of this song. I specially love the first line that goes...

LSS Line: Sa'n, mapupulot ang pag-asa.

13.) Cool Off

Original Artist: sessiOnroad
Original Album: Sessionroad
Year Released: 2003

First off, yes, the name of the band is spelled like that (sessiOnroad). Session Road for me is highly underrated, or at the very least, unknown relative to its peers. It is a part of the OPM boom in the early-to-mid 2000s, and you can clearly see (or is that hear) why they fit right in that era.

LSS Line: Palayain ang isa't isa..Kung tayo, tayo talaga.

14.) Suntok sa Buwan

Original Artist: sessiOnroad
Original Album: Sessionroad
Year Released: 2003

The song that defined sessiOnroad. Suntok sa Buwan is for me, one of those timeless classics. Please, just please, do me a favor and listen to it.

LSS Line: 'Di mo ba alam..damdamin ko'y pinagtakpan..

15.) Oo

Original Artist: Up Dharma Down
Original Album: Fragmented
Year Released: 2006

Of course, Up Dharma Down would be a part of this list!

LSS Line: Sana'y nakinig na lang ako sa nanay ko.

16.) Tadhana

Original Artist: Up Dharma Down
Original Album: Capacities
Year Released: 2012

We end this list the same way we ended my Top Beats 2014 entry, with Tadhana from UDD!

Okay, to be totally honest with all of you, despite being the OPM fan that I am, I was really surprised that this was just released just in 2012. That makes me wonder though, was this song just made for the movie That Thing Called Tadhana?

LSS Line: Ipauubaya na lang ba 'to sa hangin?
