The Podium: Approaching the Ring!

I am a big fan of the World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE. While many of you might be saying right now how wrestling in the WWE is fake, rigged, or scripted, I won't argue otherwise. WWE isn't supposed to be a sport, it is supposed to be entertainment, along the lines of American Series, Soap Operas, and the like. You watch it for the story, for the entertainment value, for fun. I've been a fan since they were known as the WWF, until the pandas came.

Steel chair! Steel chair! STEEL CHAIR!
One of the main components for the entertainment side of the WWE are the wrestler entrances. It helps greatly in giving a wrestler his character, as well as to induce reaction from the crowd. The best wrestlers often have the most memorable entrances. For this entry, I'll be listing my top 10 favorite WWE entrances. It would be very hard to rate them in any kind of order, so I shall list them in no particular order. I determined this mostly on everything a wrestler does during his entrance; the music, the pyro, the video on the titantron, and everything else. Let's begin this countdown right after the jump! :)

10.) Break the walls down!

Sorry for choosing a camera recorded tv feed, but I wanted to use that Royal Rumble return to also show the pop upon Chris Jericho's return. Jericho has had various entrances during his tenure in the WWE. Most of his entrances in his earlier years in the WWE involved a countdown of some sort, and his most recent ones involved the lights going off. Nonetheless, one thing that is consistent is his entrance music, and that ever so familiar line, "Break the walls down". If there is one thing that great entrances share, it is a line, or a guitar riff, or drum beats, that are instantaneously recognizable. Jericho's entrance has that.

9.) I'm a peep!

You know what, I am one of Christian's peeps! Christian's entrance isn't one of the flashier one's out there, but I still like it mainly because of his entrance theme, Just Close Your Eyes, be it Waterproof Blonde's version or the version of Story of the Year. I do miss seeing Christian enter the ring wearing his hoodie, that was such a big part of his Captain Charisma character.

8.) You think you know me?

Probably one of the best entrances of the post-'Attitude Era' Era. It is just the complete package. Edge's entrance music is one of the best I've ever heard as it fits him perfectly, be it as a face or a heel. It just have enough flare in it with the smoke and all, and Edge tops it off by being energetic as anyone once he gets on that stage. If his entrances doesn't get you pumped up, I don't know what would.

7.) Well, Here comes the pain!

Unfortunately I could not find the best video to show just how epic Brock's entrances are. It starts with that familiar guitar reef, followed  by some drum beats. Tazz would then go, "Well, here comes the pain!", and out comes Lesnar. Jogs on the stage, walks down the ramp, jogs in front of the ring, jumps, pulls the ropes, pyro on the ring posts goes off. Just bad ass.

6.) The Hounds of Justice!

Sierra - Hotel - India - Echo - Lima - Delta - SHIELD.

Then they come through the crowd, kick ass, and leave through the crowd again.

I may very well be biased, being a big Dean Ambrose fan and all, but this is one of the better entrances as of late. The music is just simple, but fits very well.

I believe in the Shield!

5.) Awe Inspiring.

The Undertaker has his very iconic entrance that has so many variations. He enters sometimes with druids carrying torches, he once entered the ring without even walking, he enters in the midst of flame and lightning. While the Undertaker's entrance is one of the longest, if not the longest in the history of the WWE, it is without the doubt, entertaining as hell, and as WWE commentators are so fond of saying, awe inspiring.

4.) Time to play the game!

The King of Kings probably has one of the most unique and definitely one of the best entrances of all time. His theme song is tailor made for him, the lighting effects all through out the entrance is perfect to a tee, and there is not even a need for pyro effects. But the one thing that makes this entrance one of the best is the water spitting.

Just perfect. I really can't describe how cool it is, it just is.

3.) Finally!

Do you smell what the Rock is cooking?

It doesn't matter if you smell what the Rock is cooking! What matters is that this is one of the best entrances bar none. An entrance that electrifies the millions, and millions of the Rocks fan. An entrance that makes you want to chant, Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!

And yet, it is one of the simplest entrances. The Rock enters, walks down the ramp, and enters the ring (albeit he enters the ring in a unique matter, adding a touch of originality to his entrance).

It is an entrance that is simply, electrifying.

2.) Oh Hell Yeah!

Glass Shatters.
Enter.
Raise Hell
Leave.

Stone Cold's entrance theme is perfect for him. No words, just pure bad assery. And one of the things that makes an entrance great is always how it starts. This is important for inducing that sudden reaction from the crowd. This is important for whenever the wrestler does interruptions, run ins, and surprise returns. This is true for almost all of those above, from lines (Jericho's Break the walls down, Edge's You think you know me, and The Rock's If you smell what the Rock is cooking) to sound effects (Brock's and Triple H's guitar reefs, and Undertaker's gong).

Of all of those, I still believe that Stone Cold's shattering glass is the best. You can just imagine Stone Cold breaking a glass of beer backstage as he is about to come out.

1.) Look in my eyes!

Best in the world!

I love every part of his entrance. The start of his entrance theme is just great. Then the camera zooms in as CM Punk walks out to the stage. He then gets down on one knee, checks the time, decides that "It's clobberin' time!", gets up, punches the air, walks in reverse with his arms outstreched.

Of course I am biased as I am a CM Punk fan. But as most in this list, the best entrances are those entrances whose wrestlers have marked as their own. Those wrestlers above have done it. This entrance has CM Punk all over it.

Best in the world? Best in the world indeed!
