Rewind: Shooting in Diliman

I'm pretty sure that we all have at one point in our lives experienced seeing in TV a place that we are familiar to. It may be our hometown, or a place that we always go to, be it your school, work place, or just a place where you often times hang out. I, for one, gets all giddy whenever I see my school, UP Diliman, on TV, be it the news, or a commercial, or as the setting for a movie or a teleserye (ehem Ina Anak Kapatid, anyone?)

Hello UP!

For this entry, I decided to compile music videos by OPM artists that were shot in the campus. So without further ado, let's start this one after the jump!

Let's start off strong with this song from Kamikazee! This song is Alay, and one would quickly recognize that the setting of the video are the roads within the campus. 

If you don't recognize where this was shot, then, are you even paying attention? This music video is for the song You Wear Me Out by Cambio. The setting for the video? Obviously it is the infamous Sunken Garden (or the General Antonio Luna Parade Grounds, if you want to refer to it by its official name.)

Silent Sanctuary makes an appearance in this entry with their song, Kundiman. As you can see in the preview, the MV was shot behind the UP Theater, and in front of the Alumni Center. As an aside, I really like what they did with the music video, with the 'split screen' and all.

Giniling Festival's first ever music video is also their first showing in this blog entry. Shot in various parts of the campus, Psycho has one fun music video that fits perfectly with the profile of the band and the feel of the song. The area and building where the giant robots fought? That is around the Math Building (if I am not mistaken) before the CS complex rose. 

Again from Giniling Festival, Hipon shoots scenes from the Vinzons Hill, the Acad Oval, and near the Shopping Center. I would love to one day be included in a GFest music video.

This video for the acoustic version of Burgis is the third appearance by GFest here. This one was shot around the area behind the main CS building (did I got that right?).

You would think that a song called Diliman, and is about UP Diliman, would be have UP Diliman as the setting for it's MV, right? And right you are! Mighty Man's Diliman was shot in the campus, mainly seen are the Psych building (PHAn), the ikot jeeps, and the Univ Ave.

When you think about it, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that most of these bands have ties with the university, most of them being former students that spent a lot of time in the campus, just like you and me. It just feels nice (at least for me), that they still look back at UP.
