Thinking Out Loud: My Sword for thy Kingdom

     Noble, gallant, and magnanimous.

He who would fight for what is righteous.  He would stand up for you, and will always have your back. He won’t let you get weary; chivalry is something he won’t lack. For you, he’d open and hold doors, he’d walk you home every night, his heart would be truly yours, with his shining armor he is your knight.

Who wouldn’t want to be that guy?

Me. I wouldn’t want to be that guy.

Unless that guy is the dark KNIGHT in the iron man ARMOR!

Now don’t get me wrong. I actually grew up with the idea of being the proverbial knight in shining armor. I’d do anything for the girl I love! But something made me think otherwise.

I was watching this anime entitled “No Game No Life” and just a quick synopsis; it is about a brother-sister video game team called ‘Blank’ which is arguably the best in winning games. They get transported into this alternate world where everything is decided by games, and early in the series they become the King and Queen of the human kingdom in that world. While the main focus is still the elder brother, Sora, he wouldn’t be able to do even a fraction of what Blank achieved without his little sister Shiro. In other words, they complemented each other towards dominance. The girl did not blindly depended on the guy. Instead, they became a source of strength for each other.

So why can’t this be applicable to couples as well?

When I said I wouldn’t want to be that guy, I didn’t mean that I would be a big douche bag bad boy who won’t respect or care women. Far from it actually. I’d still treat her with the utmost respect and admiration, but rather than treat her like a trophy, I’d prefer to treat her like how she should be treated; a partner, an equal or heck, even someone who is actually better than me! Some guys might not have the guts to say that, or have their “manliness” threatened by having an actually awesome girlfriend/wife, but not me! It’s a different kind of awesome to see an independent and strong, yet still sweet and caring, woman. Forget about being a knight in whatever kind of armor, I want to be the King who rules over his mighty kingdom, side by side with his queen. I don’t want us to be Mario and Princess Peach, Prince Charming and a Disney Princess, or Naruto and Sakura. I want to be a freaking emperor with her being my empress, both ruling over this awesome empire.

I grew up wanting to be the knight in shining armor. Maybe it is time for the knight to grow and become a king as well.

Not a knight, but a king.

Not a damsel in distress, but a powerful queen.

Not a male-only-solo-act, but a power couple with a pact.

Thinking Out Loud: The Thing Is..

"Who said anything about moving on?"

The thing about advises is this: They are both right and wrong.

The people that give these advises are those that have been through a lot, those rich with experience. Or they could be the nosy know-it-all types. Nonetheless, they are giving these advises based on what they saw with their own two eyes. They have seen it happen before, be it in their own lives or in the lives of those around them. That's why these all these advises are right.

That is also why they are wrong.

Remember, they are basing their advice on their own experiences. Unless they can somehow read your mind, or experience what you are going through, or get to know all your memories, they wouldn't know the full details of whatever you are going through.

As simple as that.

Each and every experience is unique on their own right. No two experiences will ever be the same. Sure there could be similarities, heck, there could be a lot of similarities, but in the end, they will never be one and the same.

The bottom line: Take these advises for what they are, advises. They are not the gospel truth, or are they universally correct. You do not have to follow it to the point. Dissect these advises because there would be nuggets of wisdom in their, but their is no need to let these advises make the decisions for you. You decided what you do. You make your own path. Besides, at the end, it is you who would be affected of whatever you choose to do.

True happiness can only be achieved with peace. Peace of mind goes a long way into putting a smile to your face. You don't what to live a life of what ifs. Be at peace with your decisions.

Christmas Three

Christmas day is just a few days away
Now my prayers and wishes for you I'll say
First in the list is pure happiness
Simply put you don't deserve all this sadness

But to pray for your happiness is not enough
So I'll do everything I can even if it's tough
All of it, just to see you once again smile and laugh
To be able to put behind the times that were rough

You might ask, "What's the next item on the list?"
Well if I may say, "A serving of peace of mind please!"
To finally make sure your thoughts are at ease
And also to ensure your worries do not increase

A mind at peace is one without uncertainties
To sleep with a smile at night is the gist
But wait, this isn't the last item on the list
There is one more that I just can't afford to miss

The last item is love, what else could it be?
I'm praying it's still pure from the way you see
'Cause love is still the most amazing gift ever
To give and to receive, now and forever

The Bible says that love is patient, love is kind
While some people insist that love is blind
For me, I never really knew what love is
'Till I found you, my beautiful little miss.

TWIS: I Could If I Want To.

Why TWIS?

Introducing a brand new line of posts here in The Bakit List: TWIS, or short for, That's What I Said.

Basically, these are just short posts containing things that I said, wrote, or whatever during the day, that, well, seems to be of some significance value (to me).

(Or maybe I'm just having too many Thinking Out Loud entries and I wanted to 'diversify' the posts.)

Anyway, here you go!

Di naman sa pagmamayabang, pero..

If I just wanted to have a girlfriend,

if I just want na kiligin ako,

if I just want na mafeel ko na merong may gusto sa akin, kaya ko magkagirlfriend e.

but..

it's not about me.

It's about her. making her happy. making her smile.

it's about being the best man for her.

it's about being the best friend she'll ever have,
the brother she call tell everything to,
the man who will fight for her honor,
the hero that she's dreaming of.

it's not about me. it's not just for me. it never was.

It's about her, it's for her. it's for us.

Rewind: Top Beats for 2013

"Why do you listen to that crap?"

Thankfully, no one has ever asked me that. I listen to a lot and various music, so who's to say that I won't be on the receiving end of that question? Anyway, this post is not exactly about that. But it is about music.

2013 has just ended and we are now on the 2nd day of 2014. Then I wondered, what did I listen to the most the past year? So I grabbed my phone and looked at the top played tracks. It actually works very nicely because I just got my phone early 2013, so all of the play count accumulated is from 2013 only.

The following are my top 20 most played songs for 2013. Remember that it is not a "best songs of 2013" list. To not make this list a long one, I would just link you to a YouTube video of the entries for songs 20 to 11, but for entries 10 to 1, I'd post the video directly here. Let's begin!

20.) I Won't Give Up

Jason Mraz' I Won't Give Up sneaks in at number 20. I say sneak in because I could still clearly remember I just started listening to this song around October, effectively giving most of the other songs at least a half year head start. Then again, I probably shouldn't be surprised, as I Won't Give Up is definitely one of my favorite songs right now. It just seems to...fit. :)

19.) Crazy For You

As performed by New Found Glory, not by Spongecola, let's just get that out of the way to begin with. Not that I have anything against Spongecola mind you. This is a song that I can say I am actually surprised to be here. I don't really remember listening to this song that much at all, but eh, stranger things have happened.

18.) Makapiling Ka

Told you I have nothing against Spongecola. I do wonder if this is the only song by Spongecola that made the list. That being said, "Pagmulat, ikaw pa rin ang hinahanap sa umaga." I must say, this is one of the best Spongecola songs from their later albums.

17.) After All This Time

If there is one song that I would bet would reach the top 10 of this list, it would be After All This Time by the Itchyworms. I just absolutely love this song since the first time I heard them play it live when they launched the song during the Roots-UP Fair 2013. Lovely melody, marvelous lyrics (though I do not relate to it, if you're wondering about that). Seriously, give it a try. You'd love it. Plus, the music video is also great, to say the least.

16.) Wag Ka Nang Umiyak

Another one of those "I could have sworn this would be a top 10 song" songs, Wag Ka Nang Umiyak by Sugarfree is just one very beautiful and heartfelt song. Now this is a song that I would sing. While it may not have made my top 10 songs for 2013, I'm betting that this is a song that would constantly be among my most played songs for the foreseeable future. That's how much I love this song. And is it just me or do all great songs just have equally great music videos?

Entries 15th onwards after the jump!

Bookmark: Shooting Star

I've got a dilemma at hand.

I was flying though outer space, just doing my usual routine of checking the stars, searching for that one star that would make all other stars pale in comparison. That's when I saw it.  To most, they'll notice its corona, which to tell the truth is indeed very beautiful. But what I saw was beyond that. I saw all through out to its core, and with that I knew that I have found the star that I am looking for. That star that would shine the brightest. I thought it was impossible to do so, but lo and behold I was wrong. Here it is, in front of me. At that moment I knew, I couldn't afford to lose this star.

But this is not a normal star, at least not at that moment. There seems to be something wrong with it, no, there is definitely something not right with it. My instruments indicate that it should be shining much brighter at the moment, but it is not. I decided that I'd do everything to make sure that this star's brightness returns.

And here is where my dilemma lies.

This star seemed to have decided that the only way for its brightness to return is to fly far away.

I know that I would do anything for it to shine as bright as ever, but on the other hand, I don't want this star to fly away.

I refuse to believe that to go away is the only way to regain its brightness. I feel like going away is just running away from whatever this star isn't shining as bright as it should be, that it is nothing but a band aid solution. Or maybe that is just me not wanting it to go.

I don't want this star to go because it scares me. It scares the hell out of me because I feel like once it goes, then that's it. I recognize that I just found this star. So if you go, then this star would have much reason to come back to where I am right now.

But at the same time, since I just found you, who the hell am I to demand, or even request for this star to stay? What right do I have to do so? Why should my opinion even matter?

Who am I to oppose what this star would want to do? Heck, others would even say that if I meant doing everything for its brightness to return, then I should even be the first one to support the star's decision to go.

Why not follow the star? Oh if only it was that simple. See, my space craft is currently docked in this station near the star, and so following it isn't much of an option right now.

Why not keep an eye on the star once it goes away? You probably know how vast the universe is. Once it goes far away from me, I don't even know if I can maintain contact with it. Not to mention that I'm not the only one looking for such stars.

I've always said that this journey was never about me, but about founding that star. That I want you to find that star and make it shine the brightest. and that is true. So why am i feeling this way?

Maybe because I believe and know that while I want this star to burn very brightly, I know that it would burn the brightest with me. Big statement, I know. If this star could talk, it might even get irritated at me for making such assuming statements. However I still believe in that, and I can only hope that one day I can make that star say that "I believe in that too", assuming this star could talk, that is. But in the end, it seems like all I can do is to wish.

To wish that I can say don't go.

To wish that this star won't go.

To wish that this star would stay.
