L.C.A. - Hungry for a Good Movie

Bakit Hunger Games yung title?

Yan ang katanungan na malimit kong marinig sa tuwing magkukuwento ako sa ibang tao tungkol sa novel series-soon to be movie na The Hunger Games. Isang serye na tunay namang isa na agad sa aking mga paborito.

But I'm not here to talk about the book (at least not in this entry). Instead, I'm here to talk about the incoming movie adaptation. It's due to come out sometime in March this year, and it's the first among the great movies that I would want to watch this year. The Hunger Games would also be the first movie that is based on a book, wherein I read the book first, that I would be watching.

Let's start off with the trailer, since that is basically what we only have to work with before the movie comes out. For you convenience, here it is!

Okay, so here are some of my thoughts! I'll start off with those shown in the trailer, chronologically, then off to some more random thoughts.

- 0:00-0:17: We see the setting, the infamous electric fence, and Katniss and Gale. So far so good. Can I say that Katniss (JLawrence) is growing on me? Gale on the other hand, I couldn't care less. Which would be fine, as I really don't like Gale.
- 0:19-0:25: Anyone else think this is the flashback scene when Katniss and Peeta met the Avox in the capitol?
- 0:31: We see Effie Trinket for the first time, and I say we are continuing the good start. I just feel like they are giving the character justice. And oh yeah, Elizabeth Banks, the actress playing Effie, also appeared in one of my favorite series, Scrubs.

Obviously, she's the woman.

- 0:58: We now see Katniss still looking fine, and..oh yeah, this is the "I Volunteer" scene, where Katniss volunteers to take the place of Prim. We also see some dudes clad in white with what seems like baby motorcycle helmets.
"Are you surprised by my helmet? Me too."

It was only recently when I realized that those men-in-white were the Peacekeepers (or at least I think they are). I've always imagined them being more mean looking with long white attires complete with a hood:
"So, you were saying?"
Only to keep reminding myself that this is set in the future, but hey, would you agree with me that the Peacekeepers would look better if they looked more like this assassin dude above, instead of those guys that looks like policemen.

-1:09: We see Peeta for the first time, and just a couple of hours ago I still haven't grew to like how he would look in the movie, but eh, I'm slowly liking it.
- 1:28-1:33: We see Cinna, one of his dress (which makes Katniss absolutely stunning), the host that I forgot the name (SHAME ON ME), and President Snow. More on Cinna later, but on the latter two characters, bravo. Spot-On.
- 1:35-1:47: We finally see the tributes. More on them later.
- 1:48: Well well well, look do we have here. It's Haymitch, played by Woody Harrelson. He also played another favorite character of mine from the movie, Zombieland. That's right, Tallahassee.

Really, could anyone else be better for that role?
- 1:57: Katniss looks stunning, not surprising anymore. And oh yeah, the oh-so-awesome quote from Peeta.
- 2:10: Awesome salutation is Awesome
- 2:13-2:25: We hear the countdown, see Cinna again, and see the Arena for the first time. Does it sound like I'm excited?

Now, some more other things. First up, Cinna as portrayed by Lenny Kravitz. I think Lenny Kravitz is perfect for the role, at least looks-wise. I've always imagined Cinna as a softee-but-straight guy, so it kind of conflicted with his character. But Lenny Kravitz just solved all of that.

The tributes! First off, Tresh and Rue looks fine. I think they'll give justice to the characters they are playing. We've seen plenty of Katniss and Peeta, and most of the other tributes are not that significant. So let's focus on the District 2 "Career" Tributes. First the girl, Clove. I can just see it already, she'll look great in playing Clove, specially the part where she goes crazy. Cato on the other hand, is how I imagined Peeta to be. Still think "Peeta" would be better with Cato playing as him. Oh well.

And of course, if you heard the bit in the end, I think that is Rue's four note song. I just get the feeling that this would be The Hunger Games' equivalent to this, this, this, this.

Okay, finally, to close this entry, let me leave you with some more Katniss pictures, and let me say, May the odds, ever be in your favor!.

Will you watch this movie with me, pretty please with sugar on top? :)
